Trial Begins For Man Accused Of Killing Amy Lord

BOSTON (CBS) – The trial is underway for the man accused of kidnapping and murdering a South Boston woman in 2013.

Edwin Alemany is accused of killing Amy Lord, after kidnapping her and forcing her to withdraw money from several ATMs.

"Ladies and gentlemen the trial that is about to unfold before you over the two weeks will be nothing short of a real-life horror story," prosecutor John Pappas said.

Prosecutor John Pappas took jurors back to July 2013 when Lord and two other women who escaped were all separately attacked within hours of each other.

"Each one of them would be victims of savage blitz-style attacks carried out by this man, Edwin Alemany," Pappas said.

Defense attorneys say Alemany is insane and should not be held responsible for his crimes.

Many of Lord's friends and college classmates were in court to support her family.
