BROOKLINE (CBS) -- Strong wind gusts brought a tree down on a passing Uber car in Brookline and temporarily left thousands without power across the eastern half of the state Sunday morning.

Weather spotters reported multiple trees down across eastern Massachusetts, including a large tree that fell on a passing car in Brookline on Beacon Street at Lancaster Terrace. Brookline police said three people inside the Uber at the time did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Eversource said a few hundred customers were still without power on Sunday afternoon.
