BOSTON (CBS) -- Travelers arriving at Logan Airport from Paris embraced each other in tears.

"I was very close to the shootings, and my co-workers were right next to the shootings," she says.

Jere Ingargiola was out for dinner with friends in Paris when the chaos began.

"The hotel was on lockdown (so) we couldn't get in. We had to pound on the door and ring a buzzer, and they let us in," Ingargiola says. "It was a very sad and scary day. It's nothing I want to experience again," Jere said.

Outside Boston City Hall, the French flag was lowered to half-staff and the at the French consulate a memorial grows, as mourners light candles and lay flowers.

Sophie Cerny has family in Paris. Thankfully, they are all safe.

"I'm happy they are fine, but there are more than 120 other people who are not fine," she said.

Boston Marathon bombings survivor Heather Abbott says the attacks brings back memories. She lost a leg in the marathon explosions.

"It's just senseless, unfortunate and sad that 2 ½ years later having to think about something like that happening is really sad," she says.
