Train Slams Into Car Stuck On The Tracks In Ashland

ASHLAND (CBS) -- A train slammed into an abandoned car in Ashland Sunday night. The car was stuck on the tracks and no one was it at the time of the crash, according to the Ashland Fire Department.

It happened at the Main Street Crossing.

The side of the car was completely destroyed.

Firefighters responded to a fuel leak from the car while Keolis worked to remove the vehicle from the tracks.

None of the 73 passengers or crew members on the train were injured.

Keolis said the train's warning systems were functioning as intended

The crash shut down the Worcester Commuter Line and a couple of streets for hours. Train service resumed around 10 p.m. with residual delays.
