Toronto's Lou Williams Edges Isaiah Thomas For NBA's Sixth Man Award

BOSTON (CBS) -- Isaiah Thomas provided the Boston Celtics with a huge spark off the bench as soon as he arrived from Phoenix at the trade deadline, but it wasn't enough to take home the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award.

Those honors went to Toronto's Lou Williams on Monday, with Thomas finishing second. Williams, who averaged 15.5 points in 25.2 minutes per game off the bench for the Raptors, finished with 78 first place votes, while Thomas finished with 33 first place votes. Clippers guard Jamal Crawford, who has won the award twice in his career, finished third in the voting.

Williams came off the bench in all 80 of his games this season, and managed to lead Toronto in scoring 18 times. Toronto went 14-4 in those games.

Thomas, acquired by the Celtics from the Suns at the trade deadline, played in 21 games for Boston, averaging 19 points on 41 percent shooting. The Celtics went 20-10 in games Thomas played.
