Tornado Warning Issued For Parts of Mass.
BOSTON (CBS) – A tornado warning was issued for some parts of Massachusetts as severe weather passed through the state Tuesday evening.
The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings from Worcester to Plymouth County. The warning expired at 7:00 PM when the storm weakened and moved offshore.

There have been no confirmed tornado sightings. The NWS says there were several wall/funnel cloud reports in Wrentham, Taunton and Mansfield.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency activated its State Emergency Operations Center to Level 2, meaning extra resources are available.
There have been reports of downed trees, but no serious damage. In Wrentham, a large tree fell on top of a car. No injuries were reported.
MEMA says about 5,000 customers lost power due to the storms.
A tornado watch was issued for the entire state earlier in the day. During a tornado watch, the National Weather Service asks residents be prepared to take shelter.

In the event of a tornado, residents should go to their basement or to a small interior room on the lowest floor such as a hallway or bathroom.
Earlier Tuesday a tornado warning was briefly issued in Essex County.
Wind gusts up to 69 MPH were reported, though there was no evidence of a tornado touching down.
