Tom Brady Opts Out Of Pro Bowl
BOSTON (CBS) -- Patriots fans hoping to catch one last glimpse of Tom Brady throwing touchdowns before the long offseason begins, we have a bit of bad -- if unsurprising -- news. Brady will not be participating in the Pro Bowl.
Brady, 36, missed a practice last week in advance of the AFC Championship Game due to illness, but his decision to forego the trip to Hawaii likely has more to do with the general fatigue of playing into January than it does any flu bug.
The quarterback completed 24 of his 48 passes on Sunday in Denver, throwing one touchdown and running for another, but it wasn't enough to compete with Peyton Manning and the Broncos.
For Brady, this year's selection to the Pro Bowl was the ninth time of his career. Three other Patriots -- guard Logan Mankins, cornerback Aqib Talib and special teamer Matthew Slater -- were also selected, though Talib will not participate after he left Sunday's game due to injury.
The game takes place Sunday in Honolulu. Brady hasn't participated in the game since the 2004 season, and Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith will take Brady's spot on the roster.
