Tom Brady, David Ortiz Among Mass. Residents Owed Unclaimed Money

BOSTON (AP) — Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady and one-time World Series MVP David Ortiz are among tens of thousands of Massachusetts taxpayers on the state treasurer's unclaimed property list.

Brady, quarterback of the New England Patriots, and Ortiz, designated hitter for the Boston Red Sox, as well as Patriots coach Bill Belichick, are all owed $300 or less.

They join about one in 10 Massachusetts residents who have money or property in long forgotten bank accounts, safe deposit boxes, stocks and insurance policies, among other things.

The treasurer's office says in all more than 51,000 individuals and businesses have unclaimed property worth a total of more than $2 billion.

Owners of unclaimed property are encouraged to call the treasurer's office to make a claim.
