Thursday Warmth Comes At A Cost

It was a landslide victory for Jan/Feb '15 over the Ice Storm of '08 in our WBZ Weather Madness…and I'm not surprised.  With memories (or nightmares!) of last year's epic snow and cold still fresh in our minds, this is the most significant and impactful weather event for many of us. Thank you to everyone who participated in the fun over the last few weeks…if you have suggestions on something to highlight for next year's March Madness, feel free to leave a comment below.

Now, on to the forecast…

This morning's lows were brutal once again. We didn't hit the record low in Boston (and I'm fine with that) – but many suburbs dipped into the teens once again, with a few spots dropping into the single digits! We'll make a decent rebound to the low 40s this afternoon with a strengthening southerly wind and increasing clouds.

Tomorrow we actually jump back to the "above normal" category with highs in the middle to upper 50s. The trade off is that the mild temps come with rain. Scattered showers tomorrow will turn to areas of downpours and heavy rain as the day wears on. Your evening commute tomorrow looks sloppy with torrential downpours, wind gusts over 40 mph and even a rumble of thunder.  Many communities will end up with 0.5" to 1.5" of rain.

After that, our weather pattern stays active with a chance of a few showers Friday (inland) and Saturday too. If you take our "Euro" operational guidance literally for Saturday night, we get another round of accumulating snow – YIKES! So it's something to watch as a big upper level low keeps unsettled weather around this weekend. I'll update you tomorrow on the weekend details.
