Thousands Walk, Run To Remember Slain Danvers High School Teacher

ANDOVER (CBS) -- A sea of pink filled the streets of Andover on Sunday morning as thousands gathered to remember a beloved teacher.

Colleen Ritzer was 24 years old in October 2013 when she was murdered at Danvers High School, where she taught math.

More than 3,000 people participated in the "Step Up For Colleen" 5K Walk/Run in Ritzer's hometown of Andover.

"This event was inspired by friends and family of Colleen Ritzer to basically carry on her legacy," Race Director Nina Caron said.

The streets on the course were lined with pink bows – Ritzer's favorite color.
