Thief Caught On Camera In Attleboro City Council Chambers

ATTLEBORO (CBS) -- Attleboro City Council President Frank Cook has been forced to utilize backup measures in order to keep his meetings under control. It is not that the city council members have been particularly rambunctious or vocal of late, it is that the chamber's gavel was stolen.

Cook is now using a rubber mallet after a thief stole the gavel at the end of last month.

Surveillance video of the chambers shows a bearded man walking around, then taking the gavel and leaving.

Airing on the side of caution, Cook decided to bring the rubber mallet home after meetings.
