Family Members Rescue And Resuscitate 2-Year-Old Who Fell Into Tewksbury Pool
TEWKSBURY (CBS) - Eleven-year-old Eiva Jones jumped right into action when she found her little brother behind some floats in her uncle's pool in Tewksbury Tuesday morning.
"Moved the float over some, picked him up and ran towards my mom screaming her name," said Eiva Jones.
Eiva's mom called 911 right away and her uncle Rob Hamilton started performing CPR.
"I took it years and years ago and unfortunately I haven't kept up with it, but it just kicked in. I just kind of remembered things and it worked," said Rob Hamilton.
Rob also had some coaching from Tewksbury regional dispatcher Rebecca Maccaro.
"It's not for being a hero or glory it's just because I know today this child is you know going to be OK," said Tewksbury Regional Dispatcher Rebecca Maccaro. "That's all it is. It's just helping people. It's part of our job. That's why we do it."
Eiva and Rob are thankful things didn't turn tragic and that the little guy is doing OK.
"It feels great because we saved the baby's life," Hamilton said. "It's really unbelievable."
The family tells us the toddler is alert and enjoying some cartoons at a Boston hospital.
