Teens Injured In Randolph Hit-And-Run Urge Driver To Come Forward

RANDOLPH (CBS) --- Brittany Rodriguez says it was the most terrifying moment of her life.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Saturday on Route 24 north near Exit 20.

A dark-colored SUV apparently struck the sedan Rodriguez and her friends were in, sending the car off the road. The SUV left the scene.

Rodriguez of Hyde Park, was ejected when the vehicle entered the median. She sustained life-threatening injuries, was initially transported to Milton Hospital, and was later transferred to Beth Israel Hospital. She's home recovering now.

Her friend Stephanie Lloyd, 19, was behind the wheel.

"I thought we were not going to survive at all," Lloyd said. "For the woman to just drive off like that, she has no heart."

Rodriguez says the woman in the car who left the scene, was in her 60's with a gray bob haircut and glasses. Rodriguez says the woman in the other car asked her if she was okay and when Rodriguez asked her to call her mom, the woman told her to call the police before speeding off.

"I am so thankful we are all alive, my life flashed before me. I am 19 years old, we have our whole life ahead of us. To lose our life due to someone who gave no care is ridiculous," Lloyd said.

Amy Pizarro is Rodriguez' mother.

"I could have lost my daughter, it's every parent's worst nightmare," Pizarro said. "It's very inhumane. Who leaves a child on the side of the road? My helpless daughter, covered in blood?"

Anyone with information is asked to call State Police.
