Teens Arrested In Haverhill Highlight Town's Drug Problem

HAVERHILL (CBS) – Two 17-year-olds were arrested in Haverhill on Sunday, accused of dealing heroin and cocaine.

The incident is the latest in a town that is grappling with a seemingly growing drug problem. According to police, there were six reported overdoses in the town over the weekend, bringing the total number of overdoses to at least 11 since Thanksgiving, police said.

There have been 138 suspected overdose deaths in Essex County so far this year.

Police are also looking into heroin overdose as the possible cause of the deaths of a mother and father found Saturday in their Haverhill home by their two young children, The Boston Globe reported.
