Teen Shot, Wounded In South Boston Overnight

BOSTON (CBS) – A teenager was shot in South Boston early Friday morning.

Boston Police were called to Old Colony Avenue and Patterson Way around 1:15 a.m. and found the wounded boy.

Neighbors were woken up by the sound of gunshots.

"I did hear some popping sounds, repetitively. I would say five or six popping sounds," James Jackson, a neighbor, told WBZ-TV. "I'm disturbed by it."

The teenager was rushed to a hospital with what police described as "non-life threatening injuries." Investigators are still figuring out what unfolded at the time of the shooting.

"I'm a parent," said Jackson. "So with that being said, that hits close to home. That could have been my daughter or one of my sons or niece or nephew."

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
