Teen Driver Cited For Motor Vehicle Homicide In 2013 Hopkinton Crash

HOPKINTON (CBS) – The Middlesex District Attorney announced Thursday that a teenage driver has been cited for motor vehicle homicide nearly one year after a fatal crash that killed a 13-year-old boy.

District Attorney Marian Ryan said that a teenage driver was charged with motor vehicle homicide and speeding after allegedly striking and killing 13-year-old Shayne Desroches, who was crossing Hayden Rowe Street in Hopkinton last fall.

The crash happened on Sept. 18, 2013, about a mile from the town's high school and middle school, where Desroches was an eighth grade student.

Because the case involves a minor, Ryan said the driver's name is not being released at this time.
