Taylor Swift fans out very early for concert merchandise sales at Gillette Stadium

FOXBORO - Fans are lining up outside Gillette Stadium not for Taylor Swift tickets, but merchandise.

The Taylor Swift Eras Tour official merchandise truck started selling concert gear outside the stadium in Foxboro Thursday morning, a full day before the first show.

The truck opened at 10 a.m. but several fans were there before sunrise - some as early as 2:30 a.m. - to get their hands on tour merchandise. As many as 10,000 people were expected Thursday.

The most popular item appeared to be a blue crew neck sweater with the tour dates on the back.

"We knew that people were really going to turn up," a woman in line told WBZ-TV about why she camped out for hours.

For some parents it was a time to bond with their kids.

"It's all about the memories and the experiences. I'm so happy that she even wants me to be a part of this with her. I think it's more exciting for me than she'll ever realize," a mother said of waiting in line with her daughter.

"It's that daddy-daughter moment you just kind of appreciate it, right. I don't know why we're here at 8 in the morning for merchandise for a show that's happening tomorrow. Can't you buy it at the show?" a father told WBZ.

"It's definitely an experience that I won't forget," his daughter said.

Others said the experience was "great" and that they'd do it again.

"The merchandise trailer will be open to the general public and located in Lot 3B on the east side of Gillette Stadium. Please note that the line will be capped to accommodate the 7 p.m. close," a statement from Gillette Stadium read.

"Parking for fans purchasing merchandise on Thursday will be accessible via P1 when traveling from the north and P2 for fans traveling from the south. The merchandise trailer will be cashless and items will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis."

Gillette has previously announced that only fans with tickets will be allowed to park in the stadium lot on concert days. As a result, Thursday is the only day for fans without tickets to access the lot.
