Sweeney: Bruins Would Love To Have Eriksson Back

BOSTON (CBS) -- Don Sweeney got his offseason started by re-signing defenseman Kevan Miller, and he made it clear the team wants to bring back fellow blueliner Torey Krug.

Sweeney would also like to bring back forward Loui Eriksson, but says retaining the unrestricted free agent might be a little more complicated.

"We've been in discussions with Loui and have a pretty good idea where they would like to be at. We'll see whether or not we can find common ground there, but we have been having ongoing discussions on that front," Sweeney said on a conference call on Wednesday. "As I've always said, I really respect Loui as a player. He had a fabulous year and we would love to be able to retain him."

Erikson, who turns 31 in July, had 30 goals for Boston last season, his third with the team after being acquired in the Tyler Seguin trade with Dallas in 2013.

Boston reportedly offered Eriksson a four-year deal prior to last season's trade deadline, but Eriksson is in the market for a five-year pact.
