Swampscott Homeowner Allegedly Sets Own Home On Fire

SWAMPSCOTT (CBS) -- A homeowner, who allegedly set his Swampscott home on fire, has been charged with arson.

Timothy Brosnan is accused of starting the multiple-alarm blaze at his Linden Avenue house, where the fire broke out shortly before 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Swampscott Fire chief Kevin Breen says when firefighters arrived on seen they saw heavy fire from the garage and also the left side of the home. Fire investigators believed the fire was suspicious due to how rapidly it spread.

"Neighbors reported hearing a loud sound, describing it as an explosion, but we haven't confirmed that yet," Breen said.

No one was hurt.
