Bernie Sanders Tops Hillary Clinton By One Vote In Methuen

METHUEN (CBS) – Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders were locked in a tight race throughout Massachusetts on Super Tuesday, but nowhere were the results closer than in Methuen.

It took until just before midnight for CBS News to declare Clinton the winner in Massachusetts' presidential primary.

Hours before that in Methuen, voters gave Sanders the edge on the Democratic side – by a single vote.

The Vermont senator earned 3,409 votes in the city, clipping Clinton's total of 3,408.

There was no such drama on the Republican ballot. Donald Trump, who cruised to victory statewide, took 61.33 percent of the vote with 3,190 votes.

Marco Rubio was second with 745 votes while John Kasich was third on the Republican side with 576 votes.
