1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Sumner Tunnel Crash

BOSTON (CBS) – One person was killed and two others were hurt in a single-vehicle crash in the Sumner Tunnel early Friday morning.

It happened just after 3 a.m. when the driver of 2002 Dodge Ram lost control of the pickup truck near the ramp to Interstate 93 north.

"An adult male occupant suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Two other occupants, also adult males, suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. One surviving victim was transported to Tufts Medical Center, the other to Mass. General," State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said in a statement.

The tunnel was closed for about two hours for the cleanup and investigation.

It's not clear yet what caused the crash.

Police identified 24-year-old Dillon Cohen of Salem, N.H. as the person killed in the crash.

A 23-year-old man from Salem was brought to Mass General while a 24-year-old Brighton man was taken to Tufts Medical Center.

Both have serious injuries.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
