Truck Hits Overpass On Mass Pike, Driver Injured

STURBRIDGE (CBS) -- A man was injured when the box truck he was driving struck an overpass abutment on the Mass Pike early Thursday morning.

Massachusetts State Police said they responded to the accident around 12:15. Fire companies arrived to extract the driver, who was trapped, from the truck.

The driver, who had serious injuries, was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester by MedFlight. The extent of his injuries was not yet known.

MassDOT inspectors were checking the overpass for damage. All lanes of the Pike have been reopened.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
