Sturbridge Crash Sends Car Into Trees

STURBRIDGE (CBS) -- A serious crash on Interstate 84 in Sturbridge sent a car into the trees off the highway early Sunday morning.

Sturbridge fire officials said the single-car crash happened at about 3 a.m. on the eastbound side near Exit 2.

"First arriving units confronted with a precariously positioned vehicle and two injured vehicle occupants quickly called for further assistance," the fire department said in a statement.

Emergency crews stabilized the vehicle and the driver was able to free herself from the vehicle that was found resting in the trees. It took about 30 minutes to free the passenger using the Jaws of Life, fire officials said.
