Students Stage Protest Against Fossil Fuels At State House

BOSTON (CBS) - One hundred students rallied in the rain Monday against future construction of gas-fired power plants in Massachusetts.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe reports

High School and college students walked out of their classes to converge on the State House and challenge the governor.

"We are calling on Governor Deval Patrick to ban the construction of all new fossil fuel infrastructures. If we want to build a clean energy future, we need to start today," said one student.

Students say the state needs to focus more on wind and solar power, stating that continued use of fossil fuels will lead to climate chaos.
