Strong Storms Cause Damage Across Mass., NH

BOSTON (CBS) – Strong thunderstorms moved through New England Thursday afternoon and evening, knocking down trees and causing damage.

Most areas of Massachusetts and New Hampshire were under a severe thunderstorm watch until 7:00 pm. Several severe thunderstorm warnings were also issued.

Most of the damage happened north of Boston.

In Tewksbury, a lightning strike caused a house fire on Sandalwood Circle. No one was injured, and the fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes.

In Methuen and Salem, New Hampshire, trees were toppled causing damage to homes and power lines.
