Stoughton Caretaker Charged With Abusing Elderly Woman In Basement

STOUGHTON (CBS) – Stoughton police have arrested a live-in caretaker in what they are calling one of the worst cases of elder abuse and neglect officers have ever seen.

Sandra Lucien-Calixte, 48, of Stoughton, was arrested Feb. 14 on charges of permitting serious injury to an elder.

The victim, a 75 year old woman, was left in a tiny basement bedroom of the home on Palisades Circle where the heat was off and the temperature was just 51 degrees, police said.

She reportedly had bed sores that exposed bone, and was dehydrated and malnourished.

Firefighters had notified police after they responded to a report there was a woman in distress.

Police said it was unclear how long the woman had been in the basement. She was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton where she is in the intensive care unit, according to police.

Bail for Lucien-Calixte, who is not related to the victim, was set at $25,000 in Stoughton District Court.

Police said thus far they have been unable to reach the victim's family.
