Storm Chances...

A round of soaking rain-swept through early this morning and rain amounts were impressive...some communities picked up over an inch of rain in a very short amount of time resulting in some short-term street and parking lot flooding.  That wave has moved out and now we are seeing a little bit of sunshine but there is a threat of a few more pop-up showers or storms later in the day.  Humidity is still running sky high...that, along with some sun and most importantly a backdoor front sliding in from the north may spark the storms.  The wind shift will provide a collision of airmasses and likely the necessary lift to bubble up a few downpours with the most likely location for this to occur along the South Coast and in Western areas.

Here is an estimation for thunderstorms activity by one of our hi-resolution models for later this afternoon...mostly south of Boston.
A wind shift associated with a backdoor front is evident this afternoon and may provide the spark for a few widely scattered storms.
