New England Governors, Eastern Canadian Premiers To Meet At Statehouse

BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker is rolling out the red carpet for the 40th Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers this week to discuss issues ranging from energy needs to new technologies.

An actual red carpet was placed in the Statehouse ahead of the two-day event.

The conference will include an opening night reception and dinner Sunday at the Statehouse.

On Monday the governors and premiers will participate in two sessions — one on innovative technologies and a second on the importance of diverse energy generation at the Hynes Convention Center.

The Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers was established in 1973. Its members are the governors and the premiers of those states and provinces.

The meetings are held alternately in New England and Eastern Canada.
