State Revokes Bus Driver Certificate Of MBTA Driver In Crash Over Pike

BOSTON (CBS) – The state Department of Public Utilities has revoked the bus driver certificate of the MBTA bus driver who crashed into and almost through a guardrail over the Mass Pike Sunday morning

Shanna Shaw is facing obstruction of justice charges for the crash that injured seven passengers.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles suspended her driver's license on Wednesday.

Shaw told investigators she sneezed and lost control of the bus at the time of the crash, according to an MBTA Transit Police report. But police say surveillance video from inside the bus showed Shaw with her cell phone in her left hand and an unidentified object in her right hand at the time of the crash.

On Monday, Shaw was charged with misleading a police officer, speeding, driving to endanger and impeded operation. She's expected to be arraigned in Newton District Court on Tuesday.
