Suspects Arrested After Allegedly Shooting At Police In Roslindale

BOSTON (CBS) - Two men are under arrest after they allegedly shot at police officers in Roslindale Tuesday afternoon.

State Police and Boston Police were conducting a joint firearms investigation on Newburg Street at about 4:30 p.m. when a suspect allegedly opened fire on two officers. The two officers then exchanged gunfire with the suspects.

Luis Colon, 25, was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. The second suspect, 25-year-old Eric Rosado-Gonzalez, was taken into custody after an extensive search that lasted about five hours.

SWAT teams, K9 units and the State Police Airwing were involved in the search for Rosado-Gonzales. Several streets were closed during the search.

"I apologize for the inconvenience to the neighborhood but we just wanted to make sure it was safe before we opened it up," Commissioner Evans said.

There were no injuries reported in the shooting.

Both suspects will be in Roxbury District Court Wednesday facing assault with intent to murder police officer charges.
