Meanwhile, police continue their search for a third driver who was not involved, but may be a witness to the crash early Sunday morning.

Police say Michael Lawrence and friend Adrian Sterling were in separate cars, speeding eastbound when Lawrence lost control and crashed into a tree. Sterling was unhurt in the crash but is now facing charges including reckless driving.

Lawrence's heartbroken mother is looking for answers.

"I just want my son back," she said.  "This is a really hard time and I just want people to know he was such a great kid and I miss him and I love him."

Classmates say Lawrence was a popular student at Barnstable High.

"He was like a brother to me, we did everything together," friend Corey Woolfolk said. "It's hard to believe he's gone."

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, to contact State Police.
