Ice Likely Cause Of Worcester Rollover

WORCESTER (CBS) – A rollover crash likely caused by ice closed part of Interstate 290 in Worcester on Saturday morning.

Just before 9 a.m., Massachusetts State Police responded to the ramp from I-290 to Route 146 southbound in Worcester.

The ramp was closed as a result of the crash, but reopened a short time later.

State police said a 64-year-old Worcester man was driving on the ramp in a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he came upon a disabled vehicle that was not moving in the roadway.

According to police, the man swerved to avoid a collision, but was unsuccessful and his Jeep rolled over.

The Worcester man was transported to UMass Medical Center with minor injuries while the other driver was uninjured.
