State Police: 1400 Heroin Packets Seized, Two Charged In Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts state police say a traffic violations in the western Massachusetts town of Holyoke have led to the arrest of a Vermont woman who was transporting about 1,400 packets of heroin back to her state.

Police on Saturday identified the driver as 41-year-old Nicole Farone of South Wallingford, Vt. She was charged with trafficking in heroin, marked lanes violation, conspiracy to violate the drug laws and knowingly being present where Heroin is being kept.

The passenger, 23-year-old Kasey Cota of Rutland, Vt., was issued a summons to appear in Northampton District Court for charges of drug possession and conspiracy.

It was not immediately clear if the suspects have legal representation. They were arrested Wednesday after a state police trooper stopped their car for traffic violations on Route 91 North.
