Woman's Lawsuit Claims Starbucks Drinks Have Too Much Ice

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Coffee sellers have been sued in the past for making drinks that are too hot, but Starbucks is facing a different kind of complaint.

CBS MoneyWatch reports that an Illinois woman has filed suit against Starbucks, claiming the chain puts too much ice in its beverages while skimping on the actual drinks.

The class action lawsuit alleges that venti drinkers are paying for 24 ounces of coffee, but ice is taking up roughly 10 ounces.

The lawsuit is seeking $5 million in damages.

Starbucks says the lawsuit is absurd.

"Our customers understand and expect that ice is an essential component of any 'iced' beverage," Starbucks said in a statement to TMZ.
