Sprirt Of Boston Strong Rings Out At Fenway
BOSTON (CBS) – Baseball is just a game but somehow it can lift the spirit of an entire city.
A year ago Boston was shaken by the bombings at the Boston Marathon just after the Red Sox finished their annual Patriots Day game.
The memories of those who were killed or injured were never far from the thoughts of the city and the team and spring turned to summer and then fall.
With the spirit of Boston Strong inspiring them, the Sox returned to the starting line six months later with a World Series trophy.
A week ago you could stand outside Fenway Park and see smoke rising from a Beacon Street fire where two Boston firefighters lost their lives.
In the past two days the city came together to say farewell at the funerals of those brave men, Lt. Edward Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy.

Today the city comes together to root for the Red Sox on Opening Day and watch them receive their World Series rings.
