Springfield Police Search For Peach Vodka Thief

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Police in Springfield are looking for a man who stole several gallons of peach vodka from a city liquor store.

Authorities say a man smashed a window at the Allen Street Package Store in the early morning hours Sunday and ran off with the vodka.

Police searched for the man with the help of dogs and a passer-by who pointed out the direction in which the suspect ran, but came up empty.

Later, open bottles similar to the ones stolen were found in an abandoned house, but the suspect was nowhere in sight.

He's described as in his 40s, about 5-foot-10, and wearing a black shirt with a white square on the back.
