Springfield Man Dies After High-Speed Police Chase

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has died after crashing his car in Springfield following a police chase.

State Police say 23-year-old Denzil Bell, of Springfield, had been driving east on Route 291 at over 100 miles per hour at round 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

A trooper spotted him and gave chase, but as Bell tried to take a highway exit ramp, he apparently lost control of his car and crashed into construction materials.

The 2008 Infiniti sedan was found on its side and Bell was ejected and suffered severe injuries, Police say Bell did not appear to have been wearing a seatbelt. He died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
