Springfield Detective Among 11 Taken In Valentine's Day Prostitution Sting

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (AP) — A Springfield detective is among 11 men who have been arrested in a Valentine's Day prostitution sting.

Police say John Wadlegger has been placed on desk duty pending an internal investigation by Springfield police. The 42-year-old Wadlegger was arrested on Friday by Windsor Locks police.

It was not known Sunday if he's represented by a lawyer and he does not have a listed phone number.

Connecticut authorities said Saturday that Wadlegger and the other men were charged with soliciting prostitution.

Police launched "Operation Cupid" by placing an ad on an Internet site that offers sex for money and set up a meeting at a motel in Windsor Locks.

Police are trying to crack down on criminal activity in motels along the Route 75 business district near Bradley International Airport.
