Spring-Starved Bostonians Searching For Signs Winter Is Over

BOSTON (CBS) -- It may sound good to say there are only 30 days to go until spring. But with the weather outside, that's still a daunting prospect.

Down in Fort Meyers, spring has sprung but here in the frozen tundra, signs of hope are hard to come by. As the snow piles up, so does our frustration.

But there are some signs, if you look very closely.

The lights are on at iconic Southie hot dog stand Sullivans where opening day has been pushed up to Saturday to appease spring-starved locals.

At Pemberton Gardens in Cambridge, owner Mark Saidnawey said no way is he thinking of spring.

With hopes of budding forsythia and pussy willows, the snow has to melt first.

"I'm hoping for the middle of March at some point," he said.

Another month is too long for some, though.

We've spotted some squirrels building nests and we hope that's a sign of spring and not just auxiliary nut storage.
