Spencer Home Buckling Under Weight Of Snow

SPENCER (CBS) – A Spencer home is in danger of collapsing, despite having less than a foot of snow on its roof.

Fire Chief Robert Parsons said the homeowner's grandson was inside the 13 Donnelly Cross Road house Tuesday when he heard sounds coming from the attic, followed by a loud crack.

The home had buckled with 8-10 inches of snow on its roof, Parsons said. A crack was visible from the roof to the ground level of the living room.

In addition, the home's roof broke away from the top of the house.

Parsons said the property was determined to be unsafe, and he expects it to collapse at any time.

The fire chief also said he believes the chimney is the only thing holding the house together.
