Boston Police Arrest Uber Driver Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Woman

BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston Police say they've arrested an Uber driver for sexually assaulting a woman. Sonpreet Singh, 25, of Somerville turned himself in on Sunday.

The woman reported the incident on April 14 in Brighton.

"Detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit conducted an investigation and were able to identify the driver and obtain a warrant for him," police said in a statement Tuesday.

Singh was arraigned Tuesday morning on a charge of assault and battery on a person over 14.

"What's been reported is deeply troubling. The driver's access to the app has been removed and we thank local law enforcement for their swift action," an Uber spokesperson told WBZ-TV.
