The four tenants, who are all Armenian students studying at Tufts University, all made it out of the house safely.

Some of the tenants had been sleeping and were alerted to the fire when a neighbor knocked on their door.

The fire went to three alarms within about 20 minutes. Heavy smoke, water and fire damage destroyed the house.

Fire officials said it appears that the fire started on a porch and spread to the roof. The tenants tried to put the fire out, but it was too large.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames billowing from the roof.

Large crowds gathered along Teele Avenue as fire crews worked to control the blaze.

Crews knocked down the fire by 4:40 p.m.
