Fire officials said it appears that the fire started on a porch and spread to the roof. The tenants tried to put the fire out, but it was too large.
When firefighters arrived, they found flames billowing from the roof.
Large crowds gathered along Teele Avenue as fire crews worked to control the blaze.
Crews knocked down the fire by 4:40 p.m.
