Soldier Surprises Mother In Hanson Traffic Stop
HANSON (CBS)-- It was a traffic stop fit for a hero.
Donna MacAllister-Humes was driving home after working the night shift Monday, when Hanson police pulled her over on Maquan Street.
"I was panicking," she said.
"She was just shocked," said Sgt. Michael Casey. "'Was I speeding?' She almost admitted to speeding, and she wasn't."
She was taken aback.
"He says, 'You know you were speeding.' I'm like, 'I was? Maybe a little,'" she says.
"She really had to get home. She had to use the bathroom, she said. I let her know that I've heard that excuse," Casey says.
Then he appeared. The man in uniform, her 19-year-old son, was home for the first time since he left to serve in the Army six months ago.
He had enlisted police to help him surprise her with his homecoming.
"It's unspeakable. There are no words to describe it," said Private Alan MacAllister. "A great feeling to be home."
"I just yelled," said his mother. "I think I said 'I hate you!'"
It was a prank only a hero could get away with.
"Couldn't be prouder," said his mom. "Couldn't be prouder."
Police posted a video of the entire prank on their Facebook page.
