Socci On Toucher & Rich: 2014 Broncos More Complete Team Than 2013

BOSTON (CBS) - After blowing out Chicago at home 51-23, New England is on to Denver.

The Patriots (6-2) host the Broncos (6-1) this coming Sunday afternoon. The two teams met twice last season, splitting the series 1-1.

However, Denver won the game that mattered most, and beat the Pats 26-16 in the AFC Championship. But the final score was not very indicative of the game itself. Denver controlled the ball for 36 minutes and New England had just three second half possessions. It took a miraculous comeback for New England to win their 2013 regular season matchup.

So here we are in 2014 getting ready for Week 9, and once again it's Peyton Manning and Tom Brady -- two Canton-bound quarterbacks playing at the top of their games in the twilight of their careers.

After discussing the Bears game, the voice of the Patriots Bob Socci provided a preview of what lies ahead on Sunday.

"Denver is a different animal [than Chicago]. They're playing much better on both sides of the ball and are a more complete team this year. It will be a far different kind of matchup than going against the Bears defense, no doubt about that. As a Patriots observer, you'd have to think this team is set up really well to go on this difficult run. The defense showed a lot of things yesterday that I think people expected. Brandon Browner and Darrelle Revis created problems for their talented receivers in Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall. Those guys were physical and emotional, and I think the defense took its cue from them."

Browner, Revis and the Patriots defense has another tough test this Sunday, as they'll try and stop Peyton Manning and the high-powered Broncos offense loaded with weapons everywhere you look.
