Smiling Mug Shot For Accused Drunk Driver Who Took Out School Sign

PLAINVILLE (CBS) -- A Seekonk woman was charged with her second drunk driving offense after police say she plowed into a school sign and tree in Plainville.

Officials said Katie Crompton, 31, was driving east on Messenger Street Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. when witnesses say she suddenly turned left, crossing over a sidewalk and striking a sign at the Wood School. Crompton then continued through a parking lot, hitting a curb and ramming a tree, according to authorities.

Police officers and firefighters responded and determined Crompton was under the influence of alcohol before taking her to the hospital, officials said.

She was brought back to the police station a few hours later where she took a smiling mug shot and was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Second Offense and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
