Small Fire Forces Partial Boston Medical Center Evacuation

BOSTON (CBS) --- A fire inside a building at Boston Medical Center forced a partial evacuation of the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters said they responded at 1:35 p.m. to the Menino Pavilion at BMC for a smoke condition. Workers were demolishing a nearby building when some material caught fire from a cutting torch, fire officials said.

"All patients in affected areas have been safely relocated, and patient care is ongoing," the hospital said in a statement.

Firefighters say there were no injuries due to the "very small fire" that was quickly extinguished.
