Small Earthquake Shakes New Hampshire

PLYMOUTH, N.H. (CBS) -- A small earthquake rumbled through central New Hampshire on Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Geological Service reports that the 1.5 magnitude quake was centered in Plymouth and struck at 7:49 a.m.

Damaging earthquakes in New England are rare – the last one to cause moderate damage was a magnitude 5.6 earthquake in 1940 in central New Hampshire.
