Sisters Profiled On Wednesday's Child Join 'Forever Family' On National Adoption Day

BOSTON (CBS) - Friday was an extremely happy day for 129 children in Massachusetts, because they now have "forever families." It's all part of National Adoption Day, and we actually met two of those kids a few months ago on Wednesday's Child.

It was February when Jack Williams profiled Que Mya and Ty-Janee. Today the sisters' dream came true when their adoptions became final. "I would say thank you for everyone's support and for everyone to be here," Mya told the large group of family and friends who gathered at the Brooke Courthouse in Boston for the event. "It's kind of like being born again or having a new life," Ty-Janee says.

The girls spent several years in foster care, but when their new mom Dainita Brewster saw their pictures in the Boston Globe as being available for adoption, something clicked. "I said, I know those kids," Danita says. That's because Danita taught in a school the sisters attended but never knew they were in foster care. "I just started asking questions about them. I started putting the paperwork in. I was moving really fast," she says.

Then she and her husband Arthur saw the Wednesday's Child story. "It was cute. It was how I remembered them. These joyful, laughing, bouncy girls," Danita says. "There was no hesitation. We just decided we were going to do it, and that was that," says Arthur.

Today, the girls join four older sisters and brothers in the Brewster's Dorchester home as well as a large and supportive extended family. And it looks like all the smiles at today's event are going to last. "Amazing, amazing, yeah. Amazing," Mya says. "It's just, wow," adds Ty-Janee.

Danita and Arthur Brewster had talked about adopting for years, but other things in life interfered. Today, their dream also came true. The Brewsters worked with the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE).
