Simmons College Faculty Member Arrested On Child Pornography Charges

BOSTON (CBS) - A member of the faculty at Simmons College faces child pornography charges.

Police arrested 37-year-old Alyssa Azotea in Concord, New Hampshire Friday afternoon.

They say she communicated with a man about having sex with children.

Simmons College placed her on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Azotea has taught part-time at Simmons since 2011, the college said in a statement Monday.

Her profile on the school's website has been removed. She had been teaching in the psychology department.

"The charges, if true, would be deeply disturbing," the school said in its statement.

"Consistent with our policy, this faculty member has been put on paid leave pending the outcome of this matter."
